We exist in a political context. It is not possible to remain aloof. Being "apolitical" means implicitly accepting the status quo. You can't be objective and not have a political stance. That sounds like a very un-skeptical thing to say, but this is the reality of the world we are currently living in.
The facts say society *must* change. We face too many challenges. You have to view everything through the lens of "will this help or hurt social progress?"
