I know that it's logically incorrect to say that breaking the law is a moral failure. Someone being a criminal does not automatically make them a bad person.
But the inverse isn't true either. Some people are criminals *because* they are morally corrupt. The circumstances of the crime matter.
It's not the 34 felonies that make Trump a bad person. It's that a good person in the same circumstance would not have needed to break laws.
