I was thinking that I was being overzealous by waking up early to catch some pics of the sun before work, but I was greeted by the biggest loop prominence I've ever seen (bottom right) 👀
It was "plasma rain" from an M9 flare overnight, as in, the plasma ejected by the flare is falling back to the surface along the magnetic field lines. We are seeing it from the side, but facing it directly it would look like a bunch of loops of plasma projecting from the surface.
