Generative AI is dangerous in many ways, not least of which is that it has an insane environmental impact. The power issue *maybe* could be resolved if we moved exclusively to zero-carbon energy sources (which we aren't really doing), but the impact on fresh water supplies is often never mentioned and can't easily be mitigated. We are already having issues with water supplies in some regions, and AI will only exacerbate it. And for what, exactly? A mediocre chatbot?
