Part of me wants to politely notify my family that I'm pursuing various gender affirming things and this year (and the next) are likely to involve significant changes in my appearance/presentation.
Another part of me thinks there's no point letting them know until I have at least tentative dates for surgeries, etc.
A third part of me thinks it's need-to-know information, and unless they are directly impacted I'm not obliged to tell them shit.
